Our basic drapery crane set consists of

• 1 steel wall bracket with an extension range from 3" to 4"
• 1 solid brass L-bracket for attaching the rod to the wall bracket
• 1 solid brass Victorian scroll on a slider with a set screw at the bottom of the slider
• 1 solid brass 36" long, ½" square tubular rod
• 1 solid brass Victorian finial that matches the Victorian scroll

The drapery cranes below are mounted on living room windows. The finials overlap when the swing-arms are closed. The window treatment consists of pleated lace panels hung on the drapery cranes with sheer voile rod pocket panels mounted top and bottom on the windows.

On the bedroom window below, a single 36" long drapery crane holds a full-width lace panel that puddles on the floor and is held back on the side with a drapery bracket. Again, the window is covered with rod pocket voile mounted top and bottom on the inside window frame.

The dining room window above has lace panels hung on swing-arm drapery cranes. In this treatment, the crane finials butt up to one another.

The drapery cranes in all of these treatments maintain the look and feel of the vintage Victorian cranes, but the material, production process and functionality are all greatly improved. Except for the wall brackets, which are stamped from steel to ensure maximum strength and support, all parts are cast in solid brass from precision cut molds. We have separated the decorative scroll from the L-bracket piece that attaches to the wall bracket. This new decorative scroll part is mounted on a hollow slide that fits over the rod, allowing it to freely slide anywhere along the rod or to be removed from the rod altogether. The rod is now ½" square brass tubing providing uniform openings for the attachment of finials and L-brackets for a variety of applications. Eliminating the telescoping rod provides a uniform surface for the decorative scroll to slide along. This also expands the versatility of the drapery cranes. The 36 " rod can be cut to the desired length for a particular function.
